Lomachenko’s manager said he would protest the outcome of the fight with Haney

Ukrainian boxing trainer Vasily Lomachenko Egis Klimas said he intends to file a complaint against the result of the duel with American Devin Haney. His words are quoted by journalist Michael Benson.

“We are not going to give up. I guarantee you that we will protest the result, we will file an appeal. Someone has to put an end to this injustice,” Klimas said.

The fight took place on May 20 in Las Vegas and ended with Haney winning by unanimous decision. Immediately after the decision was announced, Las Vegas fans buzzed with disapproval, Haney struggled to give in-ring interviews. According to the statistics of the fight, Lomachenko “threw” significantly more blows (564 against 405), the two-time Olympic champion was also in the lead in terms of the number of hits (124 against 110).

Haney retained his WBC, WBO, IBF, WBA (Super) and The Ring world titles. Lomachenko suffered the third defeat of his career with 17 wins (11 by KO), after the fight he did not hold back his tears in the stands.
