According to the promoter, the Ukrainian should have won according to the judges’ notes
Former world champion in six weight divisions, and now a promoter Oscar De La Hoya commented on the result of the duel between the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko and holder of all lightweight titles Devin Haney.
“I sat in the front row and watched the fight carefully. I love Haney, he is one of the best fighters, but… By my count, Lomachenko won 8:4. Maybe 7:5 at its worst. Lomachenko beat Haney no question.”
“I am a fan of these two guys. I carefully studied their fight: a duel for the title of absolute world champion happens infrequently. Trust me, Lomachenko won.”
Lomachenko lost to Haney in the fight for the title of undisputed world lightweight champion. By unanimous decision of the judges, the victory was given to Devin: 116:112, 115:113, 115:113. The sports community spoke out about the unfair decision of the judiciary.
