The board of directors of the International Boxing Association (IBA) has suspended the membership of seven national federations due to various violations of the organization’s charter and regulations, reports the IBA press service.
The boxing associations of New Zealand, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands have been found guilty of breaching the rules of the IBA’s statute and membership policy. These associations participated in an illegitimate boxing organization.
Membership of the Czech Boxing Federation was also suspended after the organization of the international Grand Prix tournament, to which boxers linked to the American Boxing Federation were admitted. As USA Boxing has canceled its IBA membership effective April 26, 2023, it has prohibited its athletes, coaches and officials from participating in all IBA and Affiliate Membership activities.
The IBA Board of Directors suspended the Liberian Boxing Association and the Equatorial Guinean Boxing Federation because the organizations failed to submit annual reports in accordance with IBA membership policy.
It is noted that the IBA has taken the necessary steps to ensure that boxers and trainers belonging to any national federation, whose activities have been suspended, are not deprived of the opportunity to compete under their national flag and anthem, but without any symbol of the national federation, whose activities have been suspended. They will have to register directly for legitimate tournaments. through the IBA Sports Department.
