American boxer Gervonta Davis cleared of domestic violence charges

The Florida State Attorney’s Office has cleared American boxer Gervonta Davis of domestic violence charges, according to Boxing Scene.

The boxer took “anger management and parenting” classes. Davis was arrested Dec. 27 after a call from the mother of his youngest daughter. He was released the next day on $1,000 bond. On December 30, the alleged victim withdrew her allegations via social media and also contacted the state attorney’s office and released an affidavit wishing to drop her charges.

On Monday, Broward County Court dropped all charges and moved the case to “closed” status.

This isn’t Davis’ only legal history. In early May, he was sentenced to house arrest, 200 hours of community service other than boxing and a three-year suspended sentence for a car accident with injuries, then did not appear before the court, where he was represented by a lawyer.

The accident happened in 2020. The boxer caused the accident by running a red light and then fled. Four people were injured, including a pregnant woman.

He is currently under house arrest at his trainer Calvin Ford’s residence in Baltimore.

Davis, 28, has 29 victories in the professional ring, 27 of them by knockout. The American is the reigning WBA light welterweight world champion and the holder of the WBA lightweight belt.
