Russian heavyweight Alexei Oleinik told that he did not apologize to Alexander Emelianenko although he claims otherwise.
Earlier, Emelianenko and Oleinik exchanged scathing statements in the press. On Tuesday, the athletes met before their fights in the same tournament and shook hands. For Oleinik, the upcoming bout will be the first no under UFC auspices since November 2013.
– We haven’t seen each other with Alexandre for five or six years, and this is our first handshake. As I said, I have nothing negative for Sasha, we are Christians, Slavs, if something is wrong in a person’s life, you should support him and not try to bury him, cover it with sand and leaves and rejoice. I do not have that. The more difficult it is for a person in life, the more I worry about them and want to support them. At least morally.
– What did they tell him?
– Yes, they just said hello: “How are you, how is your uniform?”. And that’s all.
– He said that you apologized to him and that your conflict was over. Did you apologize?
“50% of what he said is true,” Oleinik told .
Earlier, Oleinik said he was ready to give Emelianenko a hand, to which the latter told a correspondent in an interview: “Oleynik and I have no conflict, he has was rude in an interview and apologized.”
The two heavyweights will fight under MMA rules in Moscow on May 26.
