Hearn: Decided not to bid on Usyk-Dubois due to plans for Joshua

The promoter plans to organize an AJ fight in August

Eddie Hearnthe head of the Matchroom Boxing promotional campaign, explained why he did not participate in the promotional bidding for the fight Oleksandr Usyk – Daniel Dubois.

“August 12 is our date for Anthony Joshua. So I don’t know what’s going to happen, but it certainly needs to be seen how the negotiations go. I think the bid was $8 million. There were two bidders, K2 and Queensberry Promotions,” Hearn said.

“I have decided not to bid. I talked to George Warren about it. Given the plans for AJ, I don’t think we would fit this fight into our schedule. But it’s a good fight and I’m looking forward to it.”

K2 Promotions Ukraine paid 8 million dollars for the right to organize the Usyk-Dubois fight. The Ukrainian will receive 75% of the total prize fund – $6 million. The Briton can count on 25% – 2 million.

Usyk-Dubois fight is planned to take place on August 12 in Wroclaw, Poland. Previously, options for holding a championship fight in the UK and the Middle East were considered.
