“I don’t want to see anyone in the war.” Jones responded to the words of Wladimir Klitschko

In 2015, an American received Russian citizenship

Former world champion in four weight categories Roy Jones Jr. answered the words Wladimir Klitschkowho accused the American of visiting the annexed Crimea to obtain a Russian passport.

With the corresponding speech, Klitschko made in June at the ceremony of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

“Klitschko is trying to push me into the world of politics. I don’t deal with politics. I’m like, ‘Look, I don’t know what you’re talking about with politics, but if you want to fight, you can call me.’ I mean, it’s all right,” Jones said.

“Why are you focusing on me? I have nothing to do with it. I have people on both sides [конфликта]. I don’t want to see anyone at war because Lomachenko is one of my favorite boxers. Do you think I want to see him at war with Russia? I have 25 kids that I train in Russia, beginner kids that have nothing to do with it. I worry about them too.”

“I don’t want to see anyone in the war. You are not the only one with a problem. Don’t try to push me into it. I didn’t know why I was blacklisted for my trip to Crimea. I didn’t even understand that in 2015.”

Jones was one of the boxers inducted into the Hall of Fame at this year’s ceremony in Verona, New York. Klitschko entered the Hall of Fame last year.

In August 2015, the American received Russian citizenship. Since then, the boxer has been banned from entering Ukraine.

The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine continues for the 112th day.
