“Breakthrough” Tournament on Ice Fights

On Saturday, a very hot sporting event took place in Moscow. VTB Arena hosted the second leg of the Breakthrough Ice Fighting Tournament, the schedule of which included a ladder bout, eight quarterfinal bouts and two women’s bouts.

Ice fighting is a unique sport that was created in 2019 and has no analogues in the world. The battle takes place in a circle with a diameter of nine meters. The fighters drive at maximum speed and use hard punching techniques. The sport continues the traditions of fair punches in Russia. Ice fights allow you to bring national traditions to life and continue their development within the framework of modern realities.

Egor Bernadsky in a ranking fight won by unanimous decision against Maxim Sergeyev:

I thought it was easy to work with beginners, but the opponent surprised me and been very active. I had to get involved as much as possible to defeat him. During the preparation for the tournament, I was training on the ice, attending the boxing section at the same time, and in my spare time, I was training alone at home I learned about ice battles on social media and I was amazed He devoted his whole conscious life to hockey and had experience in martial arts, he has so decided to combine his skills and practice a new sport.It is a very unexpected and unusual look and I can say that ice fighting is a unique sport.

Today he won a ratings battle and that means he will go for the record. Unfortunately, I didn’t fight in the first round due to injury, so I’m not competing in the Grand Prix, but I only fight in rated fights.

Chekhov’s Valentina Karimova defeated Chita’s Natalya Suradeeva by unanimous decision. Valentina is a Masters in Hockey Sports candidate and admits that all her life she has dreamed of serving in the Airborne Forces:

“The fight was difficult and I understood that I was going out on the ice against an opponent who loved boxing. I was getting ready every day and I had no time to relax. In training, she engaged in boxing and went out on the ice. By the way, my husband prepares me for competitions and my family always supports me. Even a little son comes with us to training and competitions, and his favorite toys are boxing gloves and paws. I confess that I tried three times to enter the Institute of the Airborne Forces, but failed, and now at competitions I go out on the ice with the flag of the Airborne Forces. But now I have a beloved family, I continue to play sports and love skydiving. I intend to keep fighting on the ice, training and winning.

Recall that for the 2022-2023 season the Otkritie tournament was held, which included five stages, the Victory tournament and the first stage of the Breakthrough tournament.
