President of the St. Petersburg Judo Federation, Honored Coach of Russia Mikhail Rakhlin summarized for “” the results of the international tournament “Anatoly Rakhlin Cup”, which is held annually in honor of his father.
The XI Anatoly Rakhlin Cup was held in St. Petersburg on June 3-4. Under-18 athletes from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Serbia, Greece, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan took part in the competition. Awards series were contested in 17 weight categories: nine for boys and eight for girls.
Also, on June 5, Russian competitions for Russian athletes under the age of 15 were held as part of the tournament.
— Nearly 1300 participants, 63 regions of the Russian Federation, 15 countries. It is hard to imagine that it is now possible to organize a more representative tournament. Magnificent hall, excellent work by the organizing committee. Three days passed in one breath. As for the sports component, in my opinion, the sports level of the Anatoly Rakhlin Cup is increasing every day. People come to St. Petersburg not just to test themselves, but already prepared to win, to win medals. And some of the fights of the selection for our national team were at the level of the final fights of the World and European Championships.
– On the third day, juniors under 15 competed in the XI Anatoly Rakhlin Cup. What can you say about this tournament?
– We specifically made this part Russian-only, to give our guys the chance to cook in their own juice a bit in this case – there’s no need to rush here. And, you know, the final fights at that age were, of course, less professional, but more spectacular and brilliant, and the guys themselves were more passionate and emotional.
– The “XI Cup of Anatoly Rakhlin” is over. The preparation of the next one starts tomorrow?
– Nothing stops at all – there are a lot of competitions, we work all the time. But at the same time it was rightly noted about the upcoming Anatoly Rakhlin Cup, because if everything is fresh in our memory, then tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we will gather the whole team, sit down and discuss the results in different domains. Also, during the tournament we noted what was working and what could be improved,” Mikhail Rakhlin told .
