Squad announced for the second stage of the Victory Cup at SPIEF

The list of participants for the second stage of the Victory Cup boxing tournament, which will be held on June 15 in St. Petersburg as part of the Sports Games of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, has been announced. The second draw for the “Victory Cup” begins on June 12 in Perm, when the first semi-finalists will take place. Compared to last season, the tournament will not be held according to the round-robin system, but according to the Olympic system – knockout. The second pair of semi-finalists will make themselves known in St. Petersburg. “Tula” (boxers from the Central Federal District) will meet “Caucasus” (North Caucasian Federal District) and “Leningrad” (St. Petersburg and North-Western Federal District) – with “Siberia” (Federal Districts of Siberia and of the Far East).

The Victory Cup will be held in a professional boxing format in five weight classes (Under 58, Under 65, Under 73, Under 80 and Over 86kg). The combat formula is four rounds of three minutes each. In case of equality of points on the notes of the referee in the fight, the victory is attributed to the boxer who was the best during the last round.

In St. Petersburg, several participants of the World Championship, which ended in May in Tashkent, will fight at the same time: Vsevolod Shumkov, Pavel Sosulin, Igor Sviridchenkov. 2020 Olympics participant Ivan Veryasov will also play for Leningrad.

Recall that at the first stage in Perm there will be quarter-final matches between the teams “Kama” (Volga Federal District) and “Stalingrad” (Southern Federal District), as well as “Moscow” and “Ural” (Urals Federal District).

The Victory Cup prize fund will amount to 7.5 million rubles. For the victory, the team will receive three million rubles, for second place – two million, for third – one million. At the same time, for each victory, the boxer will receive 30,000 rubles.
