In the co-main event of UFC 289, Charles do Bronx defeated Beneil Dariush and challenged Islam Makhachev in a lightweight title match
Charles of the Bronx knocked out Beneil Dariush this Saturday, the 11th, in Vancouver, Canada, in the co-main event of UFC 289. In the first duel since the loss to Islam Makhachevthe Brazilian confirmed his triumph over an opponent who had won eight straight.
The Brazilian landed a kick on Dariush’s head, who tried to contain the attack, but Charles continued with the sequence of blows until the referee interrupted and decreed the technical knockout with 4min10s of the first round.

After the triumph, Do Bronx challenged Makhachev to a fight for the UFC lightweight title. The Brazilian wants a rematch against Islam, division champion, to reaffirm his return to the Ultimate. Charles even suggested that the fight be held in Abu Dhabi, where he suffered defeat.
“The champion has a name and his name is Charles Oliveira! I don’t need to text, I just need to come here and do what I’m talking about. I didn’t give 100% to this fight, I gave 120%! I’m next in line, if you want me to go to his (Islam Makhachev’s) house, I will. I’m ready! When I say that my hand is heavy, it is ready”, said the Brazilian in the interview in the octagon.
