Athletistic/Boxing. Reuters reports that the International Boxing Association (IBA) plans to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decides to strip the IBA of its recognition.
The decision to withdraw IBA recognition was recommended by the IOC Executive Board due to non-compliance with the conditions set at the end of 2021. The final decision on this matter will be taken at an extraordinary session of the IOC, scheduled for June 22.
Recall that in 2019 the IOC excluded the IBA from organizing the boxing tournament at the Olympics due to a number of issues related to management, finance, refereeing and ethics. The IOC independently managed the selection and organization of boxing competitions for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and is also currently overseeing the qualification process for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
