Russian freestyle wrestling champion Starodubtseva was awarded the medal “For saving the dead” by decree of the President of the Russian Federation

Champion of Russia in freestyle wrestling, winner of the European Cup of Nations Alena Starodubtseva by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Poutine received the medal “For the Salvation of the Dead”, according to the official Internet portal of legal information.

In August 2022, Channel 7 Krasnoyarsk reported on the website that the athlete rescued a man who was pulled out of the water unconscious. Starodubtseva revived him for about 40 minutes and helped save him.

“For courageous and decisive actions aimed at saving people in extreme conditions, reward Alena Vasilievna Starodubtseva,” reads the text of the decree.

Starodubtseva, 38, is a European Championship silver medalist in the weight category up to 72 kg and a double World Cup silver medalist in team competitions. Twice the athlete won the European Cup of Nations.

Now Starodubtseva is an athlete-instructor at the Olympic reserve sports school named after B. Kh. Saitiev in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
