Jaime extends unbeaten streak
Mexican Jaime Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) commented on the victory over the Ukrainian Sergey Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KOs) in the fight for the WBC Silver belt in the second middleweight category
“I knew I had to end the fight strong and I knew the knockdown [в 12-м раунде] really helped me pick it up [бой]. He moved a lot. It was very difficult for me to catch him.”
“I think I deserved to win. Derevyanchenko also leaned in with all the punches, he managed to disrupt the game for me and reduced the distance. But I knew how to adjust, I knew I had to keep him at jab distance. I give credit to my corner that told me exactly what I needed to do. We made adjustments and got results.”
“I have a lot to learn. There are a few details that I need to fix. I will continue to work and improve in the gym. I’m going to stay at 76.2 kg,” he concluded.
Following the results of 12 rounds of the fight between Derevyanchenko and Munguia, all three judges gave the victory to the Mexican boxer – 115:112, 114:113, 114:113.
Sergey suffered the fifth defeat in his career, and the fourth in the last five fights. The undefeated Munguia scored his 42nd win in the professional ring.
