Former UFC champion in two weight classes Daniel Cormier expressed his confidence that the Brazilian Charles Oliveira will have a rematch with the Russian Islam Makhachev.
Earlier in Vancouver, Oliveira defeated American Beneil Dariush by technical knockout in the first round. For the Brazilian, the victory was the first since losing the vacant UFC lightweight belt to Makhachev in October last year. Before the fight with Dariush, Oliveira said if he wins he should be eligible for a second fight with Islam.
– I’m sure we will see their second fight in Abu Dhabi. I expect this to be the best fight, more spectacular than the first time. Oliveira is one of the best fighters in the world,” Cormier quotes MMA Fighting.
Makhachev, 31, has 24 wins and one loss. After a first victory over Oliveira, the Russian made a defense of the lightweight belt – in February this year in Australia he beat Australian featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision.
The next UFC Fight Night tournament will take place on June 18 in Las Vegas (USA), in the main event Italian Marvin Vettori and American Jared Cannonier will meet. Watch the live broadcast on the channel from 5:00 a.m. (Moscow time) on Sunday, and also from 1:55 a.m. (Moscow time) on the Match! Fighter” and the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.
