At Bangkok’s Lumpini Stadium, One Championship hosted the ONE Friday Fights 20 tournament, which featured 12 bouts of Muay Thai and MMA. This time luck smiled on the athlete of the Republic of Tuva – Torepchi Dongak.
Dongak vs. Orekhov (MMA Flyweight ONE -61.2kg)
Card opened the fight between 20-year-old Torepchi Dongak and the more experienced Ivan Orekhov. Both athletes represented Russia. Torepchi is the first Tuva fighter signed to ONE. Orekhov is 28 years old and represents Ratibor Moscow and Phuket Tiger Muay Thai clubs. Orekhov performed at ONE for the first time.
The victory was very important for Dongak, because in his last fight, his ONE debut, he lost by unanimous decision in favor of Jang Paimian of China. This time, Dongak put on a fast pace early on, getting into a hard wheelhouse with the enemy. Orekhov, the Russian pankration champion, caught his opponent with a submission on the leg. It was tough to compete in the field and Dongak gambled on manual labor in round two. He threw hard, clear punches and Orekhov appeared to swim several times, but the referee didn’t stop the fight. Dongak finished the opponent in a standing position, but he showed character and didn’t give up until the corner threw in the towel.
Torepchi Dongak defeated Ivan Orekhov by TKO at 3:16 of the second round. Dongak picked up his first ONE Championship victory and a bonus from ONE Chairman Chatri Sityodtong, which he plans to spend on training camps in order to achieve his primary goal of the ONE Championship belt as soon as possible.
Tupiev vs Yod Aikyu (Muay Thai Bantamweight ONE up to 65.8kg)
An Uzbek fighter Mavlud Tupiev fought against Thai Yoda Aikyu (PK Saenchai room). Tupiev has already had two fights in the ONE Championship – the first ended in a loss and the second in a victory over the dangerous former ONE champion Alaverdi Ramazanov.
It was desirable for Tupiev to continue a winning streak. Yod Aikyu fought one fight at ONE in March this year before meeting Tupiev, where he won by technical knockout against Belgium’s Samuel Bilen. Mavlud Tupiev ran the full distance perfectly, but couldn’t get the win. Judging by the decision, she went to Yoda Aikyu (Thailand).
Main fight: Petsukumvit vs. Yaousawai (Muay Thai Flyweight ONE -61.2kg)
In the main event of the night, two-time Muay Thai World Champion Petsukumvit, who was looking to continue his three-fight streak, was unable to defeat Yaosuawai. As Petsukumvit was aiming for a fourth consecutive victory on the world stage, he had to give up under pressure from Yaosuwayi, who sent him to the canvas with wild combinations.
Twice, Petsukumvit was able to get up before the end of the referee’s count. Anticipating the finish, Yaosuvai went on the attack and with a powerful knockout blow in the third minute of the first round ended this fight and became the leader of the division.
