Russian middleweight Armen Petrosyan in a conversation with , he suggested how his fight with the UFC champion would have turned out Israel Adesanya and also shared his sparring impressions with Vladimir Mineev .
Petrosyan is performing in the middleweight category, where the championship title has long belonged to New Zealand’s Adesanya. The Russian switched to MMA from Thai boxing and represents the Universal Fighters team, which also includes Fight Nights champion Mineev.
– We fought a lot with Vova. He hits very hard, he strikes with both hands and feet.
Could he become UFC champion?
– I don’t know the champion, but he would definitely get high results.
How would you personally fight Israel Adesanya?
– From what he’s doing in the rack, I don’t see anything supernatural. I was trying to interrupt him in a standing position, to overtake him. And maybe a fence. He certainly has good timing and a sense of distance. Many say he has boring fights, but you have to be able to fight in such a way that the opponent can’t hurt you, Petrosyan told .
On June 17, at a tournament in Las Vegas, Petrosyan will fight his 11th fight in MMA against the undefeated Christian Leroy Duncan.
