Shakur chooses between the financial component and the opportunity to win the title of absolute champion
Former featherweight and super featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson considers two options regarding the future opponent – the WBA champion in three weight categories Gervont Davis or undisputed world lightweight champion Devina Haney.
“We are going to make a game plan and see which one makes more sense. Because from a business standpoint right now, my fight with Tank would be a bigger fight and a bigger opportunity than anything.”
“But if I fought Devin, I would get all these belts, and I love belts. My champion side wants to get titles again because I’ve been a champion in every weight class I’ve competed in.”
“But the business side of me wants to risk everything. I want the world to bet everything on my fight against Tank… Put me and Tank in the boxing ring and you’ll see who really enjoys it.”
Earlier, Stevenson said that the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko was supposed to become the undisputed champion following the fight with Haney. Shakur challenged Devin to a fight and also expressed his desire to fight Vasily.
Shakur defeated Japan’s Shuichiro Yoshino in his lightweight debut. Stevenson has become the official contender for the WBC title and claims to fight the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney.
