WBC does not consider alternative options
WBC President Mauricio Suleiman said that his organization is preparing an eliminator fight between two ex-world champions Deontay Wilder And Andy Ruiz. The winner will be declared the mandatory challenger to fight for the WBC title held by Tyson Fury.
“Fights against Usyk, Joshua and even Ruiz could not be realized. Fury wants to have the best fight possible,” Suleiman said.
“My meeting with Frank Warren was informal, but at it we discussed the heavyweight division. What a pity that Tyson Fury was left out without the fights they were trying to put on.”
“The WBC is still going through the administrative process for the final eliminator of Wilder and Ruiz. This process has not yet been completed. The WBC is not considering any other alternative.”
Fury previously revealed that he would soon announce the name of his next opponent. WBC President Suleiman said that the possible rivals of the “Gypsy King” do not want to enter the ring against Tyson due to financial aspects.
Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott has revealed that Andy Ruiz is a priority opponent for the American’s next fight. Deontey also wants to fight Oleksandr Usyk, claiming that the Ukrainian is afraid to enter the ring against him and deliberately refuses to fight.
Fury defeated Derek Chisora by TKO in his last fight. The Briton planned to hold a unification fight with Oleksandr Usyk, but the Ukrainian pulled out of the negotiations due to contract disagreements.
