“The most corrupt competitions are the Olympics. And with such a policy of the IOC, the Games will lose their value ”- Chairman of the Council of Coaches of the Russian Boxing Federation

Chairman of the Coaching Council of the Russian Boxing Federation Edward Kravtsov said that under the current policy of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Olympic Games would lose their value.

On Thursday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC ) decided to deprive the International Boxing Association (IBA), headed by a Russian Umar Kremlev . It is the IBA which is the only international organization which has allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete without any restrictions. So, Russian boxers at the men’s and women’s world championships in 2023 performed using national paraphernalia.

– As a coach who has worked with teams for 25 years, I had to work with this organization (AIBA), where there was corruption and no help for boxing. And then the IOC was not interested. Then came Wu, who in theory was supposed to rectify the situation, teach us, because he was an IOC member. But things got worse. And finally Umar Kremlev came. Now countries receive subsidies, boxing centers, IBA transports athletes from countries that cannot afford it at their own expense. And I’m not talking about prize money – a boxer can support himself. Active work is being done to fight corruption in boxing. Everyone sees it. The boxer is responsible. The IBA level has increased a lot. Athletes from other federations envy boxers with the envy of white people. And now we get a grenade in the back from the CIO. How can a completely corrupt organization carry out an investigation? How can they delete someone? I’m talking about the IOC. I have been to three Olympic Games… And I have seen that the most corrupt competitions are the Olympic Games.

We have already developed some immunity. We have been in this state since 2014. Yes, for an athlete, the Olympics are the pinnacle of a career. But it is our mentality, which was established earlier. The Olympic Games are starting to lose a bit of meaning, because there is no honesty, openness, mutual respect. Otherwise, why do we need the Olympics. There will be other competitions. The Friendship Games, the BRICS countries… Yes, they will look lower level, but with such an IOC policy… The Olympic Games will eventually lose their functionality and status. And we, as coaches and athletes, will continue to work and perform where there is respect, ”reports a correspondent in Kravtsov’s words.
