Boxing remains in the program of the 2024 Games

Director General of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Christophe De Koepper stated that boxing will be in the program Olympic Games 2028 In Los Angeles.

“Yes, of course, we can guarantee that boxing will be on the program in Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028,” De Koepper said.

Earlier, the IOC withdrew recognition from the International Boxing Association (IBA). The IOC Executive Board came to the conclusion that the IBA did not fulfill all the requirements that were put before the organization.

Recall that the IBA did not hold qualifying tournaments for the 2020 Games in Tokyo and the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The qualifying competition was organized by the IOC.

Russian Umar Kremlev remains the president of the IBA. His main opponent, the Dutchman Boris van der Voorst, was not allowed to vote.

In April, a new federation, World Boxing, appeared in international amateur boxing. The body is headed by a Provisional Council of representatives from the federations of Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Sweden and the United States.
