Judoist Makhmadbekov: ‘I can fight much better, my goal is Olympic gold’

russian judoka Mahmadbek Mahmadbekov told that his main career goal has yet to be achieved as he aspires to an Olympic victory.

Previously, Makhmadbekov, competing in the weight category up to 73 kg, defeated the representative of Poland Adam Stodolsky in the final of the Grand Slam tournament in Astana. The competition is a qualifying stage for the Olympic Games in Paris.

– You have many victories at Grand Slam tournaments, but at the World Championships in the third round you lost to the future medalist. What happened next?

– The problem was that we hadn’t fought on the international scene for a year and a half or two. This lack of competitive experience is felt, and then I didn’t feel as comfortable as I do now. But at the moment, I haven’t reached my best form yet. I can fight much better, there is something to do.

– The goal is Olympic gold?

“Certainly,” Makhmadbekov told .
