Russian UFC fighter Yana Kunitskaya told RB Sport that after passing a positive doping test, her husband and PFL fighter Thiago Santos could return to action in October.
Earlier it was reported that the Brazilian has been temporarily suspended from fighting and will miss the PFL season.
He had problems with the prescription. The doctor prescribed the medicine, but Thiago did not check whether it could be taken. It’s entirely his fault. Everything we take has to be checked, and Thiago thought the doctor knew what was possible and what was impossible. But the doctor is not a commission and is not responsible. The drug is banned, but does not give any effect, so Thiago received the minimum sentence. I think he will fight in October. I will fight, then we will go to Brazil, after which he will start the camp.
– If USADA suspends a fighter, is he not allowed to fight in promotions that cooperate with USADA, or is he not allowed to fight in the United States at all?
– You can fight in the United States and other countries, but the commission will take it this way: if you don’t listen to us, you won’t be able to fight in the promotions that cooperate with us. If he had fought in Russia, he could never have fought in America, – said Kunitskaya.
Santos, 39, has won 22 times and lost 11 times in his career.
