Martin wants to fight ex-world champion
Congolese heavyweight boxer Martin Bakole challenged the former world champion Deontay Wilder. He has already applied to the WBA with a request to arrange a fight.
“I was upset when Wilder topped the WBA rankings. I looked in the direction of Michael Hunter – the first number against the second. I don’t know why Hunter is no longer ranked and what happened. Wilder was fourth or fifth, and then, like a snap of his fingers, he became the first,” Bakole said.
“It’s not a problem for me to fight the first number. But why doesn’t number one want to fight me? Number one and number two should fight each other, and then maybe the winner can become the mandatory WBA contender for Usyk.”
“My team contacted the WBA, tried to arrange this fight, but to this day I have not received a response. No one answered me, no one told my team if the WBA agreed for me to face Wilder. I want this fight. I’ll knock out Wilder like Tyson Fury. I’m going to knock him out.”
In the last fight, Bakole knocked out Ukrainian Igor Shevadzutsky in Polish Rzeszow. In the third round, the referee was forced to stop the fight due to Martin’s obvious advantage.
Wilder is in talks for a WBC eliminator fight with Andy Ruiz. The parties have not yet reached an agreement.
