The fight between the two former world champions has not been officially confirmed.
Former World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder criticized his father Andy Ruiz. According to him, Ruiz’s father makes all the decisions instead of the boxer.
“I love this fight, but Andy’s dad needs to get out of the way. I think they are all crooks. He says he owns a construction company, but it’s his dad’s firm, and they’re squeezing Andy’s juices to keep her going.
You know what? When the money runs out, they won’t have anywhere to go. And Andy, at 33, will be fucking broke, unable to support his children, because daddy made decisions for him. He should decide for himself. I hate it when people try to decide for fighters when they risk their lives. His father does not risk his life, but he wants to grab money. How much interest does he take from his son?
If you want to talk about money, let’s ask this: how much money do you get from your son? Stop letting your son miss opportunities, because if he misses this one, it will be the end of his career. This will be your fault. And don’t teach him how much money he could save when you take it from him,” Wilder said.
Ruiz confirmed his desire to fight Wilder. Andy stated that his team is in talks with Deontay’s representatives.
Earlier, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman said that his organization is preparing an eliminator fight between two former world champions Wilder and Ruiz. The winner will be declared the mandatory challenger for the WBC title held by Tyson Fury.
In his last fight, Ruiz defeated Luis Ortiz via unanimous decision. At the same time, Andy knocked down the opponent three times. After the fight, Ruiz challenged Wilder. Deontay defeated Finn Robert Helenius by knockout in the first round in his last fight in October.
