Earlier, the parties excluded from the negotiations the clause on the fight-rematch
Promoter Eddie Hearn said he expects until Saturday a decision from the team of the former “interim” WBC champion Dillian Whyte regarding the fight with the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
“The good news is that they now have a contract without a rematch clause for August 12th. There is absolutely nothing in the contract that could cause any problems. I don’t think they’re going to sign it, but I hope they do.”
“AJ really wants this fight. We intend to announce it on Saturday, so we have 48 hours. we are ready to go. I know Dillian loves a big fight and he’s here for him, so hopefully he’ll sign.”
“When there is such a huge side A in the fight, you have to do your job as a promoter. First, every big name I’ve worked with in boxing has a rematch clause. Secondly, it was I who asked for this item.
“AJ is going to fight Wilder for $50 million or $60 million and he decided to have a dangerous fight a few months before. If Joshua loses, he will be in the desert and lose the Wilder fight in December.”
It was previously reported that White’s team had resumed negotiations for a fight with Joshua. Dillian returned to the discussion after Anthony’s team agreed to remove the rematch clause from the contract in the event of Joshua’s defeat.
Joshua faced White in 2015 for the WBC International belt and British titles. Anthony won by TKO in the seventh round. White, 35, had previously said he was ready for a rematch.
In his last fight, White defeated American Jermaine Franklin by decision. Joshua also defeated Franklin in March, the fight lasted all 12 rounds.
