“Absolute vs absolute” – Alvarez signed the announcement of the fight
The absolute world champion in the second middleweight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez announced the fight with the undisputed light middleweight champion Jermell Charlo. The fight between the two champions will take place on September 30 in Las Vegas.
“Absolute versus absolute,” Canelo captioned his announcement.
Previously, Alvarez was in talks with Jermall Charlo, Jermell’s twin brother, who holds the WBC middleweight belt. In turn, Jermell declared his readiness to fight Canelo, even if he needed to gain additional weight for this.
Alvarez defeated WBO mandatory challenger John Ryder in May to defend his belts. Charlo defeated Argentine Brian Castaño, winning the WBO belt, which allowed him to become the undisputed champion.
