The championship fight will take place on August 26 in Wroclaw
WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk commented on the upcoming fight with Daniel Dubois. The fight will take place on August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.
“I am very glad that we have the opportunity to organize my fight in Poland, where 7 years ago I received my first world title,” Usyk said.
“I want to thank the Polish people who are so sincerely helping Ukraine. Thousands of my countrymen have found refuge in this wonderful country. Therefore, I hope that my fight will be another opportunity for Ukrainians and Poles to unite and strengthen our friendship.”
It was reported that Usyk would receive 75% of the total prize fund – $6 million. Dubois can count on 25% – 2 million.
The rights to broadcast the duel between Usyk and Dubois in PPV format were received by the TNT Sports platform. From July 18, the resource, formerly known as BT Sport, will officially complete the rebranding. Usyk’s fight will be the platform’s first major boxing event.
Alexander in his last fight again defeated Briton Anthony Joshua, defending his belts. Dubois defeated Kevin Lerena by TKO in December and retained the status of the mandatory challenger for the WBA belt, owned by the Ukrainian.
