Brazilian mixed martial artist Charles Oliveira expressed hope that his possible rematch with the Russian Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Islam Makhachev will take place not in October, but a little later.
In June, former UFC lightweight champion Oliveira defeated American Beneil Dariush by technical knockout. After the victory, the Brazilian challenged Makhachev for a rematch. UFC official Dana White says the league is ready to stage that fight. Earlier, Makhachev said he could arrange the next fight in October at a tournament in Abu Dhabi.
“I just spoke to Oliveira. He said he would not have time to prepare for a fight with Islam in October and hoped to meet him in November or December. Charles promised he would be champion again,” TSN reporter Aaron Bronsteter wrote on Twitter.
Oliveira has 34 wins and 9 losses in his MMA career. Makhachev has 24 wins and one loss.
