Down-the-line.com/MMA. Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of Russian MMA fighter and UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, said his client has no plans to postpone his next fight. Earlier it was reported that Brazilian Charles Oliveira won’t have time to prepare for a rematch with Makhachev, which is scheduled for UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

“Islam will fight in Abu Dhabi,” Abdelaziz wrote on social media.

Makhachev won the championship belt by defeating Oliveira in October 2022. Then the fight was stopped in the second round after the Russian landed a choke hold. In February 2023, the Russian made his defense debut, beating featherweight division champion (up to 65kg) Australian Alex Volkanovski by unanimous decision.
