Fighter Volkanovski: ‘I would be lying if I said I would move Makhachev to the octagon’

The current UFC featherweight champion is Australian. Alexander Volkanovski said he wants to return to the octagon against the Russian lightweight promotion champion Islam Makhachev .

In February, Volkanovski lost to Makhachev at UFC 284 by judges’ decision. Earlier, it was reported that the 31-year-old Russian’s next fight is set to take place in October at a tournament in Abu Dhabi.

“We all know I want a lightweight belt, I want a rematch.

I would be lying if I said I would crush Islam in the octagon. It’s going to be another tough fight, but I guarantee they’ll get their hands up. I think it will go better than the first fight. I would like to finish Makhachev, but as fighters we are both very good,” Volkanovski quotes MMA Fighting.

Volkanovski defeated Mexico’s Yair Rodriguez via TKO on Saturday to retain the UFC featherweight belt. The Australian won the title in 2019 and has since managed five defenses.
