Usyk on the fight with Dubois: Glad to be back in Poland, where my championship started from, picking up the belts

The Ukrainian boxer also thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine for protecting Ukraine, the Poles for supporting our country

WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk commented upcoming fight vs. World Boxing Association mandatory challenger Daniel Duboisscheduled for August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.

The boxer once again paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, repelling the large-scale armed aggression of Russia, and also thanked Poland for supporting our country.

“First of all, I want to thank the guys who protect our country. Thanks to them, we can perform abroad and give a little emotional happiness. APU! I want to thank the Polish people for the support they are now providing to Ukraine,” Usyk said.

“I’m glad to be back in Poland – that’s where my championship started. The first WBO title I won in Gdansk seven years ago. I was well received here, we boxed well with Krzysztof Glowacki, for seven years I just picked up the belts and returned here.

“Throughout my career, I traveled to many cities. But Wroclaw will be the closest to home and, I think, many of my compatriots will come to support me and will be happy with what they saw on August 26th. So see you on August 26th.”

The duel between Usyk and Dubois is officially announced on August 26. The event will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, at the Tarczynski Arena. It was reported that Usyk will receive 75% of the total prize fund – $6 million. Dubois can count on 25% – 2 million.

Alexander in his last fight again defeated Briton Anthony Joshua, defending his belts. Dubois defeated Kevin Lerena by TKO in December and retained the status of the mandatory contender for the WBA belt, owned by the Ukrainian.
