Krasyuk: From a sporting point of view, Fury should be stripped of the WBC belt

The promoter said that Tyson’s fight with Francis Ngannou is a bright show, not a real sports event

Alexander KrasyukWBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion promoter Oleksandr Usykdeclared that the British Tyson Fury does not have the moral right to own the WBC belt, although it complies with all regulatory norms.

“No, I don’t think Fury should give up the belt. He can only be stripped for one reason if he doesn’t follow WBC rules. But, as far as I understand, he complies with the rules. Tyson made a mandatory defense with challenger Dillian Whyte, and now he should be assigned a new mandatory opponent. In fact, he does not violate any WBC rules.

“But from an athletic point of view – pure boxing, sport – he needs to be stripped of his belt because he has been inactive for so long. He is deceiving people by announcing fights that won’t take place.”

“Fury vs Ngannou? Do you call it a fight?. This is a performance, an exhibition. This is not a duel. A fight is when an undisputed title is at stake. When you fight Ngannou, you make money, entertain the fans, entertain the public, that’s all you do.”

The WBC plans to nominate a mandatory challenger for Fury’s title soon. At the same time, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman stated that the possible rivals of the Gypsy King did not want to enter the ring against Tyson due to financial aspects.
