“Either like everyone else or go to hell.” Nosov said the Russians should participate in the Asian Games on a common basis

Bronze medalist of the Olympic Games and the European Judo Championship Dmitry Nosov on the air “” said that Russian athletes should participate in the Asian Games only on a general basis.

On Saturday, it was announced that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) will allow Russian athletes to participate in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, if the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allows them to participate in the Olympic Games in summer of Paris 2024.

If approved by the IOC, no more than 500 athletes from 12 individual sports from Russia and Belarus will be allowed to compete. Russians will only be able to participate in neutral status and outside of the medal count.

— I agree with the President of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili and the President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov. There are no official documents. Let’s assume they will. For example, some athletes will go, we cannot prohibit them from doing so at their own expense, please be prepared.

We must firmly hold our position: either we are like everyone else or we are going to hell.

We have to create our own alternative games. We have to seek friends from all over the world, find a format, ask for a budget and create an alternative to the Olympic Games. Where it will be pleasant for all the athletes of the world to come, regardless of their political beliefs, Nosov said on the air of the program “There is a theme!”.

On March 28, the IOC announced recommendations on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status. Recommendations include individual eligibility, status neutrality, banning team sports, and banning athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the CWO. A decision on the Paris 2024 Olympics will be taken “at the appropriate time”, said the IOC.

The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8.
