The Ukrainian held the WBC cruiserweight title
WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO World Champion Oleksandr Usyk once again expressed his desire to win the title WBC in heavyweight, owned by Tyson Fury.
“I’m still going to my goal and trying to win this beautiful WBC belt again, but in a different weight class,” Usyk wrote on Twitter.
Usyk held the WBC cruiserweight title. The Ukrainian was the undisputed world heavyweight champion in 2018-19.
Usyk and Fury could have had a unification fight in April, but the Ukrainian pulled out of negotiations due to contract disagreements. Now the new potential date for the face-to-face meeting between Tyson and Alexander is January 27, 2024.
On August 26, Usyk will fight against Daniel Dubois. The fight will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, at the Tarczynski Arena.
Fury has been cleared by the WBC to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Their meeting is scheduled for October 28 in Riyadh.
