On Saturday in Orenburg, Shumkov, who competes in the weight class up to 58 kg, defeated Ruslan Belousov of Kama by a split decision of the judges in the Victory Cup Superfinal. Shumkov has won the last three Russian championships and won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships.
– Everyone is used to the fact that I destroy the opponent, I advance. Also, my previous fight ended in 40 seconds (in the semi-finals of the tournament). Maybe somewhere now relaxed. Yes, and Ruslan well prepared. He played this fight more professionally. I had few encounters with such guys. He basically moved and picked the moment, landing a precise blow. Basically, he got away. And that relaxed my vigilance a bit – I missed the shots.
– There is no fear that Belousov showed everyone how to act against you?
– No. On the contrary, Ruslan showed me what kind of opponents it is difficult for me to work and fight with. I will definitely work on the bugs. I think the next time I meet Ruslan I will box even better and as always I will win without any separate decisions.
– You had maximum fights in the second Victory Cup and achieved victories in all three fights. Before the first stage of the tournament, you said that you still could not mentally get away from the World Championship in Tashkent. Has the situation changed now?

The Victory Cup prize fund is 7.5 million rubles. For the victory, the team will receive three million rubles, for second place – two million, for third – one million. At the same time, for each victory, the boxer will receive 30,000 rubles.
