Following Ngannou, the UFC could lose McGregor. This will be a big blow to the promotion.

Connor “sold” nearly $700 million worth of pay-per-view broadcasts alone

Former UFC champion in two weight categories Irishman Conor McGreor may finally leave the organization. Notorius, who last entered the octagon two years ago in July 2021, is considering leaving for the WWE wrestling promotion. If that happens, and McGregor’s manager hasn’t ruled out the possibility, the UFC will lose its second big star in less than a year. The first, we recall, was now the former heavyweight champion of the organization, Francis Ngannou. But it looks like the UFC will fight to the end for McGregor.

With Ngannou, in principle, everything is clear. Despite his status and showmanship, as well as his heavy weight, Francis never generated large revenues for the promotion. He did not earn himself. For example, for his last fight in the UFC with Cyril Gan, the Nigerian received only 600 thousand dollars. The PFL promotion, with whom Ngannou signed a contract, will pay Francis a million for the fight. The boxing match with Fury will bring the Nigerian a guaranteed $ 8 million.

With McGregor, everything is more serious. Talking about the impact of Conor on the UFC and assessing the income that McGregor produced, it becomes clear why the promotion and its head Dana White tolerated all the antics of the Irishman. Just a fact: 8 of the 10 biggest and most profitable pay-per-view broadcasts in the history of the organization were with an Irishman. These eight fights have sold more than 12.5 million PPV, and in total they brought almost 650 million euros.
