The World Boxing Forum will be held in China on August 27, according to the official website of the International Boxing Association (IBA).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the IBA board on Saturday.
“By choosing China as the host country, we are celebrating the year of Asia and paying tribute to the region’s passion for boxing. I sincerely thank this country for its efforts to develop boxing and the desire to develop not only an elite sport, but a sport for all. With such a strong partner as China, we are shaping the future of boxing, and I am thrilled with the opportunities that are opening up,” said organization chief Umar Kremlev.
Earlier on Monday, media reported that the IBA was considering withdrawing from the Olympic movement.
