As previously reported, Jeff Monson announced his intention to fight Taktarov on August 4 in Moscow.
Oleg Taktarov has confirmed that they are in the final stages of signing a contract for an exhibition bout. According to the contract, the fight will be held under the rules of MMA, and Taktarov willingly agreed to these conditions. He noted that Monson doesn’t like to wave his arms too much, which suits him.
Taktarov, 55, last fought in April 2008 against Mark Kerr, where he won via first-round submission. His record includes 17 wins, five losses and two draws.
Monson, 52, fought his last fight against pop-MMA manager Artur Vardanyan under boxing rules, which ended in a draw. He has 60 wins, 26 losses and one draw in his professional career.
