Sergei Pavlovich can become a reserve fighter for the fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic

Russian heavyweight trainer Sergei Pavlovich Rizvan Magomedov told that Pavlovich could participate in the title fight if the champion John Jones or suitor Stipe Miocic will not be able to compete at UFC 295 due to injury.

Pavlovich is currently number one in the heavyweight rankings and is on a six knockout win streak in the early rounds. The heavyweight champion is Jon Jones, who is scheduled to make his first title defense at UFC 295 on November 11 against former champion Stipe Miocic. Previously, one of the potential title contenders was believed to be a Russian fighter, who won 18 out of 19 professional MMA fights.

– Stipe Miocic has not competed since March 2021 and has one unclosed loss. Why couldn’t you agree on a fight between Sergei Pavlovich and Jon Jones?

– And Sergey can still fight. I don’t know if the Jones-Miocic fight has been officially approved yet, but I’m sure Seryoga will back this fight up in case anyone flies. We’ll see how things go now.

– Pavlovich certainly won’t fight before the Jones-Miocic fight?

– No, he will definitely wait for the fight for the belt. If he doesn’t fight with one of these pairs now, he will definitely wait for the title fight. We will see what happens, there is still plenty of time until November,” Magomedov told .

Magomedov has worked with Pavlovich as a manager since signing with the UFC in 2018. The fighter securing the fight must report to the tournament, go through the weigh-in procedure, and travel to the fight with one of the participants in case their opponent is injured or refuses to fight before the tournament begins for any reason.
