The fight will take place on August 26
Shane McGuiganformer coach of the Englishman’s mandatory WBA heavyweight title challenger Daniel Duboisexpressed a frank opinion about the duel of his ex-ward against the Ukrainian, the unified world champion Oleksandr Usyk.
“It will be a tougher fight than with Joshua. I think Dubois has a heavier punch than Joshua. Anthony is more fearless, but Daniel misses more. He’s not that technical, his boxing isn’t even close to that level. However, he definitely has a puncher’s chance. He is extremely dangerous in the first four or five rounds.
As soon as Usyk starts to get into his rhythm, if he starts to get into it, if he does not concede in the first three or four rounds, then you definitely need to bet on Alexander’s victory. But I’ve never seen people get dropped like Dubois. He is a phenomenal puncher. But he needs to deliver the blow – that’s the point, “McGuigan admitted.
The duel between Usyk and Dubois is officially announced on August 26. The fight will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, at the Tarczynski Arena. It was reported that Usyk will receive 75% of the total prize fund – $6 million. Dubois can count on 25% – 2 million.
Alexander in his last fight again defeated Briton Anthony Joshua, defending his belts. Dubois defeated Kevin Lerena by TKO in December and retained the status of the mandatory contender for the WBA belt, owned by the Ukrainian.
