Former rival of Alexander – about the future of the Ukrainian champion
American heavyweight boxer Michael Hunter paid tribute to the holder of the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight titles Oleksandr Usyk. He believes that the Ukrainian champion will soon leave professional boxing.
“I think Usyk will retire soon. This is just my opinion. He has a lot going on in his country, in his world. Usyk is a very religious person, he has achieved a lot. He was definitely a great ambassador for his country,” Hunter said.
“He is in some way on the same path with the Klitschko brothers, with Vitali. Therefore, I think that it will be useful for Usyk and his country if he does something in this field. I think he deserves it.”
Recall that Usyk and Hunter fought in the first heavyweight division in April 2017. Alexander defeated Michael via unanimous decision to retain his WBO title.
Usyk’s next fight will be against British heavyweight Daniel Dubois. The fight will take place on August 26 in Wroclaw. In July, Alexander signed a one-year contract with the Polissya football club.
