Forty-fifth US President Donald Trump said he spoke with the head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White the possible return of the former champion of the promotion in the lightweights of the Russian Khabiba Nurmagomedova .
“I think Khabib was great, it looks like he’s not coming back, but yesterday I asked White, ‘Where’s Khabib? Are you going to force him back?” I think he’s a really good fighter,” Trump said on the UFC Unfiltered podcast.
When one of the hosts claimed that Nurmagomedov promised his mother he would never fight again, Trump remarked, “Well, when his father died it affected him, but he was a fantastic fighter.”
Nurmagomedov has 29 wins and no losses in his mixed martial arts career. He held the UFC Lightweight Championship from April 2018 until March 2021 when he officially retired.
