Six national federations have joined the alternative organization IBA World Boxing

The national boxing federations of the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Great Britain, England and the Netherlands have become the first official members of World Boxing, which is an international organization alternative to boxing. International Boxing Association (IBA).

The World Boxing statement reports that representatives from these countries will take part in the organization’s first congress in November 2023 and will have the opportunity to nominate candidates for the positions of the new international federation, including the presidency.

The organization said its representatives will seek recognition status from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and “plan to work to keep boxing on the program at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 and beyond.”

Previously, the IOC Executive Board had recommended to the organization’s session to withdraw recognition from the IBA, as the association did not meet the necessary conditions for restoration set out previously. The decision was approved on June 22, 2023 by a majority. IBA chief Umar Kremlev said the organization “is determined to correct this verdict” and return to its former status.

The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
