Kevin Johnson: ‘If you saw the Klitschko fight, I never hit the right hand’

american boxer Kevin Johnson who expressed a desire to obtain Russian citizenship, in a conversation with he recalled his feelings from the meeting in the ring with Vitali Klitschko 14 years ago.

In December 2009, Johnson lost to Vitali Klitschko, who defended his WBC heavyweight title. All three judges gave the victory to the Ukrainian boxer, but Johnson became the second who managed to stand in the ring with Klitschko for 12 rounds.

– The fight was very easy. Each of you can go home and examine it.

Six weeks before the fight, I had an injury. I asked for the cancellation of the fight. I was told that if I canceled the fight, they would take Shannon Briggs.

It’s a simple math – take 1.8 million or end up with nothing. I decided: well, I will fight with one hand. If you saw the Klitschko fight, I never landed a right hand. Never! Johnson told .

In April, Johnson approached Russian President Vladimir Putin with an application for Russian citizenship. Russian promoter Vladimir Khryunov noted that they are currently waiting for Samara region governor Dmitry Azarov’s appeal to the country’s president with a request to grant Russian citizenship to Kevin.

Because of the 43-year-old Johnson’s 35 wins, 21 losses and two draws in the professional ring.
