Derek will fight Gerald on the undercard of the Joshua-Helenius fight
British heavyweight Derek Chisora (33-13, 23 KOs) commented on the upcoming fight against the American Gerald Washington (20-5-1, 13 KOs).
“All my fights were big for me. They are like children to me, from first to last. Know what Gerald is going to bring into the ring. He’ll put on Usain Bolt shoes and walk away from me, but that’s okay. I won’t lie, he’s my friend, but when I get in the ring, I’ll eat this guy.”
“You have to win every fight, but sometimes it’s just not your day. Man makes plans, but God laughs at him. I can say that I’m going to knock him out in three rounds, but in fact everything will go on for 12. “
The fight between Chisora and Washington will take place on the big night of boxing on August 12th. The central event of the event will be the fight between Anthony Joshua and Robert Helenius.
The event will take place in London at the O2 Arena. The fight will be broadcast via PPV system by DAZN.
Chisora previously wanted to fight Joshua in August, but will fight the 41-year-old Washington. The American former challenger for the WBC heavyweight title has not entered the ring since January 2022. Chisora himself lost to WBC champion Tyson Fury in December 2022 by knockout in the 10th round.
