Former British IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Antoine Joshua urged to address doping issues in professional boxing by increasing the number of random doping tests.
Potential rival Joshua Dillian Whyte failed a banned substances test, organizers canceled the fight, which was due to take place on August 12 in London. Now Joshua, 33, will fight Finland’s Robert Helenius, 39, at the O2 arena in London.
– The problem of doping in sport exists, of course. It also happens in boxing. It’s not the first (time) nor the last.
I am controlled doping all year. Every quarter, I have to report my location: where I will be every day for a 60-minute time slot so they can monitor me.
I’ve been providing this data every day since 2011, so I don’t know why I’m under such pressure and other boxers aren’t. When you sign a contract with a promoter, they all have to take this into account.
Look where we are now. We lost the fight and almost lost the card because of this situation, — quotes the words of Joshua Reuters.
Joshua last fought against Jermain Franklin in April this year. This confrontation went the full distance and ended in Anthony’s favor with a unanimous decision from the judges. He has 25 wins (22 by KO) and three losses.
