IBA chief explained where it is planned to hold the World Boxing Championship in 2024

President of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev discussed the possible location of the 2024 World Cup.

Kremlev participated in the Congress of the American Boxing Federation (AMBC), which took place in Cali (Colombia).

— We will organize more and more competitions, because it is very important for our athletes. As 2024 will be the IBA America’s Year, I propose an America’s Cup in October 2024 with a prize pool of $1 million. We also plan to host World Boxing Tour events in the Americas, as well as the IBA World Boxing Championship. The finalists of the continental championships will form a team for America, and we will launch a competition between the continents called the IBA World Cup, the IBA website quoted the Kremlin as saying.

In 2023, the men’s world boxing championship was held in Tashkent, the women’s tournament was held in New Delhi.

Previously, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended at the session of the organization to revoke the recognition of the IBA, because the association did not fulfill the necessary conditions for the restoration advanced previously. The decision was approved on June 22 by a majority.
