The former heavyweight title challenger does not believe a unification bout is possible.
There won’t be a unification bout in the heavyweight division in the near future. This is what former heavyweight contender Derek Chisora said.
In his opinion, a potential fight between WBA, WBO and IBF world champion Oleksandr Usyk and WBC title holder Tyson Fury would be prevented by a permanent title defense.
“This fight will not happen. I don’t believe it will ever happen. Filip Hrgovic is the mandatory challenger for the IBF title. Usyk has a fight with Dubois, and after that Hrgovic will require a mandatory defense with him. So I Don’t think that the Usyk – Fury duel will happen.
I just think there are a number of fighters waiting for a mandatory defense against them. I don’t believe that we will ever see Usyk-Fury fight, because Tyson will now fight Francis Ngannou,” Boxing Social quoted Chisora as saying.
Previously, Usyk’s next opponent was known after the fight with Dubois.
