American Kevin Johnson received a license from the Russian Boxing Federation, according to a correspondent.
The presentation took place during a press conference focusing on Johnson’s fight with Russian 2021 world champion Mark Petrovsky. And in the document, according to promoter Vladimir Khryunov, the American boxer is presented: “Kevin Vladimirovich Johnson.” Khryunov also said the August 18 fight with Petrovsky would be for the Russian heavyweight champion’s belt.
On April 1, Johnson approached Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to obtain Russian citizenship. On August 9, Johnson, who expressed a desire to obtain a passport in the name of Kevin Vladimirovich, told that he was very happy with his decision to take a surname in honor of Putin.
